The second-hand marketplace Users Express Displeasure Regarding Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
